Vadose Zone

Understanding and Mitigating Soil Contamination from Hanford Tanks

The Tank Farm Vadose Zone Project was created to better understand the contaminants in the soil around and below the underground liquid waste storage tanks so actions can be taken to protect public health and the environment.  The contamination in the soil is the result of past leaks from tank farm facilities and discharges from past operations.

This page presents the activities, investigations and findings of the Vadose Zone Project.  Documents produced by the Vadose Zone Project will be available through this page.  Check back soon for updates.
